Whistler History

The Whistler Group was an electronics company based in Bentonville, Arkansas, USA.
Founded in 1971, the company gained recognition for its innovative radar detectors, power inverters, GPS navigation devices, scanner radios, and other mobile electronics.
Over the years, The Whistler Group expanded its product line to include inspection cameras, LED flashlights, vehicle dashboard cameras, fire suppressants and more.

In late 2013, The Whistler Group acquired the scanner radio technical assets from GRE, allowing them to manufacture scanner radios similar to those produced by GRE. The company continued to innovate and provide high-quality electronics.

The Whistler Group’s legacy lives on through Goliad Products, LLC. Goliad Products acquired the assets of The Whistler Group in January 2025.
Welcome to the next chapter in The Whistler Group’s history!

It will be interesting to see what develops. After switching from Uniden to Radio Shack/Whistler about 2003 I gave up about 3 years ago after they stopped keeping up with Uniden.

They will need a considerable amount of time to get things going again, I'd think, and hopefully they will have the vision to develop a product that can compete (or exceed) the capabilities of the Uniden SDS models.

There's nothing better than competition. Time for us all to settle back and let them take the ball and run with it.

As Archie Bunker said, "patience is a virgin, there, Meathead..."

I wonder if they acquired the name and existing inventory and once that's gone they will just fade away?

I see that they don't have any radar detectors listed. That's how they made their original money, even though the products got mediocre reviews.

I will add that the TRX-2 had a lot of potential if for no other reason than the remote head option.

Maybe the new management will allow outside software developers have access to the information needed to develop programming software that doesn't suck the farts out of dead seagulls.
