Nothing beats after replacing the PC, and temporarily putting in NOAA audio to test the feed, then -forgetting- to put the scanner back in scan after 24 hours.

When it is running normally, it varies between 10-30. When there is a fire call, because the town is all simplex, several members will put the feed on in their car while going to the station, as my reception is usually far better than their mobiles. My biggest issue there is the pain in the ass paging transmitter at the hospital. It's VHF and runs several hundred watts. I put in a filter that AJ1L Jeff tuned for me and that has cleaned up the audio a bunch, but it has also attenuated reception some. My 436 does a much better job at filtering it, but it seems pointless to put a $500 scanner on just for a scanner feed.

I was kidding I meant listenership for your accidental NOAA weather feed. But since you elaborated if the feed is just VHF simplex channels you'd get a much tighter reciever using a motorola radio it probably wouldn't be bothered by the pager. I could probably help you find a radio real cheap for the job maybe a Spectra scanning VHF?

Thank you for respecting the input policy. However , in this case, input is just the county main sheriff's frequency, 153.9650. The repeater is only used for comms on that channel. County sheriff's also use 155.7750 from Warner Mountain, but it is not repeated over 154.7400. The whole use of the 154.7400 is puzzling. I know the folks at PCS in Pittsfield but never bothered to ask them. What is funny is, Stockbridge has a stand alone repeater on 153.965, for coverage of their portables in downtown. So when a Stockbridge PD officer is talking, their comms gets repeated on county 153.965, which goes onto the new repeater of 154.7400. Repeat, repeat, repeat...

However all Fire is simplex as I stated earlier.

Irregardless, the feed is up and I am working on a new radio receiver.

Part 2 of what I was going to hold off on on saying, but I'll share now is that they are actively discussing on moving the entire county over the 800MHz trunked system by the end of the year, if it happens that quick? The last County fire/police chief's meeting they tried to convince them all it was better to be on 800MHz. So I'm sure they (BCSD & MSP) will copy the Franklin Cnty 800MHz channel plan and keep the same concept to Berkshire Cnty.

Cnty Fire, Cnty Police, Ops rptr channels & then TAC channels, etc.
